Don't forget to put in your planners (or on your calendars for you old fashioned people) that the QT Christmas party is scheduled for our regular meeting day, December 11, 2009. We are planning on meeting at Moondollars in Post Falls. We have the room from 5:00 - 8:00. I suggest we move the party to Mom's house afterwards if we are still in the spirit!!!
We won't be exchanging Rows at this meeting, but we will be giving our Aprons away! And don't forget the White Elephant gift that is no more than $5.00 + tax.
I LOVE this season, so expect a little something from me as well (nothing big, just a little something)!

Sears Catalog
I had to look it up ladies!! The infamous 1975 Sears catalog I mean. The underwear model.

Great September Meeting!
The September meeting was a lot of fun! Thanks Teresa! I am so excited about our new project. This should be a lot of fun! I have already started working on Vicki's flower row and I am thinking about everyone elses trying to come up with something original.
Other things from the meeting: We drew names for the Apron Christmas exchange. Great idea to draw names. It is going to be easier to make the perfect apron, now that we know who it will go to. We also decided on a White Elephant exchange. These can be sewing related gifts, but don't have to be. And the MAX that we are allowed to spend on these gifts is $5.25 (which includes the tax).

New Project!!
I am very excited about the new project. I'm posting what I like to call the "rules". I was told we should just call them "suggestions" though. We don't work well with rules....
The first one is important. The row has to be 48 inches across and between 6 and 12 inches high.
After that there are none.... Just be sure that it measures 48 inches.
Each person should bring their first row with them next month. It is kind of like your seed. It gives everyone else a clue of your theme or color scheme.
You can choose to do a theme quilt, like all snowmen, or all birdhouses. Or you can choose a specific fabric that you want throughout your quilt. If you want a specific background fabric please include 2 yards of your background in your tote to pass around. If you would like a specific fabric to show up throughout your quilt please include at least a yard of that fabric in your tote.
We looked at a book about a Row by Row challenge. Each member of this group made the same row for everyone, in their chosen color scheme. Everyone ended up with very similar quilts. But we think it would be boring to make the same row over and over again. So we are mixing it up and making what the quilt owner would like. Less boring and more challenging, especially for us beginners. Great practice.
The totes that Gayle gave us at a meeting at her house will be perfect for exchanging rows and fabric (and directions/suggestions from the owner).
Oh! One more thing. We didn't decide whether to keep this project a secret from the owner or let the owners see the progress. There are people on either side of that fence. Some want the surprise and some want to see the progress. I think the suspense was a lot for the fractured fat quarter challenge and that only went through 4 people. This project will likely last a year!

Schedule!!!
OK. The schedule for the remainder of the year is posted! Finally. Now we have no excuse for loosing it. It is kind of funny that not one person at the meeting this month still had her copy. I think we all have lost it! Thanks to Vicki for keeping hers.

The meeting at Jeans house was great fun! Gayle's quilt turned out so wonderful. I am so happy that you were all able to contribute to it. I'll post a picture of it here soon.
The Therapy Star Quilt turned out great. I hope that everyone had a chance to see the completed quilt at the Quilt Show. Gayle is going to make a few calls about where it can be donated and we will plan on getting our picture taken with it (and the tank!).
We have several suggestions for the next Quilt Therapy project. Several people suggested a Row by Row quilt, where everyone completes a row of blocks in a round robin style quilt. Another suggestion was a Round Robin, where everyone starts with a block of their own before passing it along. In each of those ideas we would probably pass it all the way around the group so that all 9 of us work on every single quilt. Bring your ideas for projects to the next meeting, where will choose the project and set the rules (yeah right).

1 Year Anniversary!!
The July meeting is the 1 year Anniversary of Quilt Therapy. Last July we met at Gayle's house for an organizational meeting and then we traded fat quarters at my house in August. Does it seem that long ago to you? I am looking forward to the next year! Has everyone been on the lookout for Apron patterns? I think that was what we decided on for Christmas exchange. Only 6 months until Christmas you know!
Don't forget fat quarters for birthday girls at the July meeting. Gayle and Vicki were missed (mostly, Gayle got some cute fabric from someone! I almost had it smuggled from her house. She caught me.) And Liz had the June birthday that we didn't all get to. Gayle will bring the Stars Quilt, so that everyone can see the finished product. It looks really nice.

Where does the time go?
Hello Quilt Therapy!!
I am soooo sorry it has taken me so long to update this website. I have no excuse!! My life is busy, but not that busy....
So I am posting a photo of the quilt top that we all participated in! The blocks went together so nicely and we had just enough. Gayle quilted it and JeanAnne had it last to add the binding. It turned out really well. Gayle has it entered in the quilt show. So when you go be sure to look for it!

March Field Trip
The March meeting field trip was a lot of fun! It seemed like spring that day (who knew there was a lot more winter coming?). We missed those who couldn't join us this time. I hope they got to see the quilts at a different time. Here is a picture of 5 of us in front of one of our favorite quilts at the museum. We spent a lot of time talking about this one. :) I think my favorite was the one made from cigarette carton silks with all the pictures of girls... I have seen quilts made from cigar silks before but not the girly cigarette ones. Very cool, and a piece of history.
We meet again this week! Hope everyone is ready!

Final Reveal!!
This was the night of our big reveal! We traded our Fractured Fat quarters again. This time to their owners. We also got to do our pin cushion Christmas exchange. What a lot of fun ideas everyone came up with!
So.... Here is the whole group (except Roxann, who couldn't make it tonight. Emma is filling in for her). To see the fabric that each quilt top began with go to the very first post on this blog.
Each quilt seemed to be tailored for the person who received it. I think each one came out beautifully! It was so exciting to see them all.
