Hello! I don't have a preference between place mats or a table runner whatever my person is in the mood to make. I have a sort of Italian food and wine theme in my kitchen with colors of burgundy, purple, yellow, orange, and cobalt blue. Thanks! - Teresa
Make whatever you like for me, in any color you like! But if it makes it easier to choose a color my kitchen has a Tuscan yellow wall and is sort of decorated (and I use the term loosely) in cobalt, red, and yellow. And my favorite color is Orange.... - Krista
As you have realized anything on the wild side for me. I like bright colors, batiks, florals etc... My house is cluttered with browns, oranges, reds, and probably a green here and there and my everyday dishes are a deep yellow orange. With fingers crossed Hunter will be off to college this year, so there will likely be 3 - 13 dining so a table runner may be the way to go. I am sure with all this time something will jump out and say "Hey, this looks like Liz" I say "Go for it!" - Liz

I would prefer a table runner - I have a round table that is 30" in diameter. my kitchen is beige and navy blue with red accents and yes, you guessed it, pretty much has an Asian theme. I have made a Christmas valance for my window that is multicolored German style Christmas ornaments also. - Vicki
Fall colors are great, and it doesn't have to be a grand size. I don't have a dining room table. so I often put smaller runners on my coffee table, or on a neat old dresser in my living room. Hope this hint is helpful, since most of you don't really know me yet and haven't seen any of my quilts - Deb

November already??
How can it possibly be November already? Well it is. And soon it will be snowing, then it will be Thanksgiving, and then it will be CHRISTMAS!! (I didn't say that like it was a bad word. If you read it that way you clearly don't know me at all).
I haven't heard from the newest members of our growing group about what they like prefer for Christmas gifties.... This year we are doing either table runners, or place mats. Several people had requests so the pieces would go with their kitchen decorating. These requests are not set in stone demands from the gift getters. They are simply suggestions regarding the receivers style. We don't all know each other very well and this is just a guide. Feel free to veer off and do your own thing if that is where your mood takes you!!

Project warm up!
Hello ladies! It was a small group this month. We missed those who couldn't make it. Summer keeps us all busy, I know. Jean, Stephanie, Krista, and JeanAnn had a nice evening without you!!
And while the 4 of us were together, we voted on our next project. This is going to be a warm up to the poster project. I am very excited about the idea. Jean will be able to explain it better next month, but I'll do my best here.
Jean is going to reproduce a picture (the example she used to explain it to us was a flowerpot, with a few flowers and leaves). We will all get a 9x13 copy of the picture to take home. During the meeting we will choose the colors that we like for the background, the pot, the flowers, etc, so we are all using the same colors. Then we will each raw edge applique, using the chosen colors, one or more of the same picture. When we get together again the next month we will cut each block into 4 quarters, mix them up, and put them back together. I imagine a pretty watercolor effect once they are put back together.
This is a little practice piece before the poster project. Some of us haven't done much, or any, applique at all. So this will be practice for one technique. The other added effect is that we get a little more time to hunt down the poster that we want to use for the poster project!
I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to learning something new!!

Can you Believe we are planning for Christmas???
It's March! We have already drawn names for the Christmas party. Did we do it this early last year?
Anyway, there was a suggestion that we each give an idea of our favorite colors and preference on place mat or table runner. This is out there to make it easier on the person who drew the name. There is no guarantee that you won't get something that is "titty pink" and covered in sperm or something. :) But it does lessen the odds!!
I have heard from a few people already. As the rest trickle in I will update the blog so remember to bookmark it and check back often if you don't see the person you need. Let me know if you want me to add anything else as well!
