Countdown to Christmas!

Thanks to Jennifer for hosting the November QT.  It was a fun meeting and there were a lot of us there!  That was the biggest turn out in awhile.

The Christmas QT is December 14 and we will have it at Liz's.  Directions will be sent out before the meeting!   Liz said that Jean in planning to be there!  I hope everyone else puts it on their calendar now so we can get us all there.  I'm looking forward to the gift exchange.  I still don't know what I'm going to do for it yet, but I did come up with some ideas this weekend.  Yeah!  If you don't remember the rules you can find them ---->  QT Christmas

And then we have a really fun project planned for the January meeting. But you need to come prepared. We will be racing. Oh yeah! Its a race.  You will need to bring a 40 piece jelly roll and a sharp pair of scissors.  Probably should include a spool of thread as well.   What we will do is set up a few machines and work in teams.  We discussed having one person sew while the other irons their own quilt.  The video does not have her ironing as she goes, but we all agreed that it would be easier in the end if we did.  So a few of us will bring machines to set up.   And then we will race!  If it works the way they say it does online we should each have a cute quilt top in an hour (probably a little longer since we will iron and work in teams, but still in an QT meeting).  Maybe we should all ask for a jelly roll for Christmas?

We also have a calendar to pass around so each person can choose a month to host the QT meeting.  If you don't want to host at your house that is fine, we can do it at Moon Dollars or somewhere else clever, or we can trade or bargain.  It should be easier to do it this way so that each month we aren't trying to figure out who can host next time.  Might relieve some pressure.
Vicki has volunteered to take January already.  And she has teamed up with Liz to have it in Twin Lakes (there is lots of room for Jelly Roll racing at Liz's extra house!)
    Stephanie took June.
I am waiting to choose after everyone else does.  I'm pretty flexible.  I think Gayle was waiting to sign up for the same reason.
Let me know if there is a month that you'd prefer and I'll mark you down and keep everyone posted.  I'll try to bring the calendar to the next meeting.  I forgot it this time... Oops.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
Oh that's right!

ENJOY!!!

Scarves and Christmas 2012

I'm so glad I took notes last night.  I have to refer back to them to remember all the things I need to put in this post.

Thanks so much Teresa for hosting QT and for the fun project!  I really love it and might make another.  (Lets see if I find occasion to wear this one first.)

We decided on our Christmas project for 2012.  And we have plenty of time to think and create now.

Ready?

This year we will do an "Upcycle Christmas Gift".   Wait.  There are rules.

The base of the gift can be purchased (second hand most likely) but you can't spend more than $5 on any supplies that you don't already have.  You could find something from your home if you wanted.
It has to fit in a lunch sack.
It can't take more than 1 day to put together.  You decide what that means.
Asking for supplies from your fellow QT members is encouraged.  If you need a purple button and your button box has NO purple, maybe someone else does.

Finally, I've already mentioned this, bit it bears repeating.  You can't spend more than $5 on the gift.  That means if you spent $4 on the broken desktop clock you want to upcycle, then you only have $1 left for the specific orange paint you wanted to use.  $5 limit.  MAX.

We are going to try to go back to Moondollars next month. It's been awhile since we have had a good burger and sweet potato fries.

AND.....  In April we are planning a QT spa party!  The highlands does group spa parties.  Gayle is going to see if we can customise a quilter spa party.  (If not there are some other great packages available).  Sooo...Right NOW, put it on your calendar!  Friday, April 13 Spa party (I'll get the cost of it to you as soon as we have that ironed out.  We are keeping it around $50/person (but might be a little higher.)  Save your pennies!

The fat quarters are coming along great!  I loved this project the first time and I love it just as much this time.  I'm excited about starting this months.  The challenge this month is to add triangles.  There are lots of ways to do that!

Who still has a poster to bring to the poster project??  We need another one going I think.  I imagine that Deb's Starry Night poster will be done (or nearly done) next month.  Lets start the next one!

Come to think of it.  We are running out of posters.  There are only a few left.  Maybe we should be brainstorming the next fun project?  Think about it till the next QT!!

See you all in a month!
